Many of you know him from Groove Cruise 2011, whereas many of you may have only heard rumors about how he busted onto the scene and rocked the pool deck on the NCL Sky like only he can! Well, FINALLY, we’re excited to say that Chris Lake will be returning to The Groove Cruise in September, and we can’t bloody wait!
He’s been busy since we last saw him, roaming the globe headlining tours and festivals alike, playing alongside some of the elite and most well-respected in the industry on almost a nightly basis!
We managed to catch up with Chris recently to shoot a little S*** and talk about all things Groove Cruise! Full except below.
GROOVE CRUISE ARTIST INTERVIEW
Have you ever been on a cruise before?
Well actually the only cruise I’ve been on is the groove cruise! That was a year and half ago and it was a memorable experience!
What comes to mind when you think of The Groove Cruise?
Debauchery! Fun times, music all day, family vibe and just people with intent on having the weekend of their lives. My last groove cruise prove to me that there are some unbelievably hard core ravers in America and they were all on that cruise.
What do you expect to see on the groove cruise?
Hahaha, well last time I was there I felt like was the most conservatively dressed person there. I saw some pretty wild sights and bright colors worn by people. I also saw a lot of people that didn’t seem to think sleep was an option.
Favorite track of 2013?
I don’t normally do this, but Ive just finished a record with Steve Aoki and Tujamo which is called “Boneless”. The reaction on this record has been unbelievable and I’ve been testing it for four months i love it , and i bet you will too.
What are your packing tips?
Im an expert at traveling light. I pretty much only travel with electronics, clothes and pharmaceuticals of the holistic variety.
Anything special you are you packing for GC? Ofcourse, sunscreen and lots of it!! My british skin can’t handle much of these California rays.
Craziest thing you have done while traveling?
I turned up to my New Years Eve gig at Edinburgh in 2006 in an ambulance and managed to play.
Biggest pet peeve about traveling?
It take so much time! When I travel I find it very difficult to work so basically most of my time is spent managing my boredom.
Where’s your favorite place to travel to in the world?
Who would you most like to collaborate with in the future?
It depends what day you ask me because I like so many different genres. One day I would like to work with Martin Solveig, the next day I could want to do a record with Claude VonStroke, the next day a main room banger with Knife Party then the next day an emotional ambient record with Massive Attack . I like so many genres.
If you made a song with a nautical theme what would you call it?
Thanks for the time today, Chris. Can’t wait to see you onboard in Sept! Gonna be a big one!
