NextAid: Official Groove Cruise Charity
A portion of your cruise fare goes to benefit NextAid. NextAid is a dance music based organization that harnesses the power of music to benefit kids, youth and women in Africa. The Groove Cruise has donated thousands of dollars over the last 4 years to NextAid to support their projects in Africa.
Currently, they are focused on three sustainable programs, two in Kenya and one in Sierra Leone. In Kenya, NextAid has partnered with an all girls free high school in the Kibera Slum, the Kibera Girls Soccer Academy. In Kawangware, they are working with a youth group that operates an ecological custom bag-making business and are building a new facility, the Kawangware Vision Centre. In Sierra Leone, NextAid works with the First Ladies Initiative who is currently developing a birthing shelter in conjunction with the office of the First Lady of Sierra Leone.

Whet Travel president and Groove Cruise founder Jason Beukema along with his girlfriend Careli Campos traveled to South Africa and visited NextAid’s main project at the time, a facility for children affected by AIDS, in Dennilton on March 11, 2009. They were deeply moved by the vibrant kids, their stories, their scars, and the surroundings they live in. They met these kids and hugged them with their own arms. Jason and Careli encourage you to get more involved with NextAid.
