Now then, who better than to kick off the first week of ‘WTPW’ than the dutch maestro himself, Sander Van Doorn! We had a blast hanging with him last year, and are soo excited to have him headlining Friday night of Groove Cruise Miami 2013.. Q. Have you ever been on a cruise before?
A. Yes, The Groove Cruise!
Q. Besides the Groove Cruise, what’s the most memorable party you’ve ever attended?
A. Haha, let’s think about that. There are different kinds of ‘memorable’ so I will go with energy –wise! I always have a blast at Ultra in Miami and anything ID&T does is always amazing. Honestly though, I can’t pick one, I love playing and all my shows across the globe are memorable in their own way.
Q. What comes to mind when you think of a ‘Groove Cruise’?
A. Fun on the water with great friends and music!
Q. What’s your ‘Go-To’ track that we’ll find in all of your sets?
A. At the moment, Kangaroo by myself and Julian Jordan.
Q. What’s on your rider?
A. Normal stuff. Some drink, some mixers, water.
Q. What are you packing for The Groove Cruise?
A. Well I will be joining from my holiday, so I will probably have shorts and flip flops!
Q. Any special packing tricks we should be aware of?
A. Less is more.
Q. Anything you NEVER leave home without?
A. Well for me its music and my phone. Everything else I can get on the road (usually!).
Q. When traveling, what bugs you the most?
A. The act of traveling. Getting to the airport, waiting, delays, cancellations.
Q. What’s been your worst travel nightmare so far?
A. Dissapoint fans when flights get cancelled. That’s the worst. Worst airline? Ryan Air.
Q. Window or Aisle?
A. Aisle.
Q. Where’s your favorite place to travel in the world? Favorite hotel you’ve stayed in?
A. I love the states and for holiday, always tropical- usually an island where no one knows me;) Fav hotel? I always love The W and Cosmopolitan in Vegas.
Q. What do you do when stuck on a plane all day? Any go-to movies?
A. I produce. I rarely watch films on the plane.
Q. What artist would you LOVE to collaborate with in the near future? Why?
A. Sigur Ros or Moby.
Q. If you weren’t a DJ, what would you be doing RIGHT NOW?
A. Looking for a job probably!
Q. What’s something weird that most of your fans probably don’t know about Sander Van Doorn?
A. I sneeze when I eat minty things.
Q. Any pet peeves or superstitions?
A. Nope!
Q. If you produced a track with a nautical theme, what would you call it and why?
A. The Pirate’s Theme: Yo ho ho.
